What We Do
Serving Baltimore and Beyond
Throughout Baltimore Rho Xi Omega’s history spans 29 years of service. We are a leading the legacy of vibrant and visionary women who founded Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. 110 years ago.
In 2017, we impacted the lives of families, children, schools, and the community through more than 2,163 hours of community service and 63 programs. As an award-winning chapter, Rho Xi Omega’s current service initiatives focus on our International Signature Program, “Launching New Dimensions of Service”. We invite our local community members and Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters to join us as we continue to service all mankind.

Our Target 1 includes programs that enrich Baltimore’s youth and Historically Black Colleges and Universities in our nation. Our Target 2 promotes health awareness in three areas: Alzheimer’s Disease & Caregiver Support, Stroke & Heart Disease Awareness, and Mental Illness. Learn more about these programs.

Our Target 5 partners with the United Nations Association for the Global Classrooms Project and with Africare to help hunger initiatives in Africa. Our programs include United Nations Association (UNA-USA) and Africare. Learn more about Target 5 programs.
Community Impact Days
Alpha Kappa Alpha members will implement International Community Service Days annually to highlight the organization’s collective impact in program target areas:

- Pink Goes Red for Heart Health Day (February)
- 1908 Playgrounds Mobilization Day (May)
- The Longest Day™ Alzheimer’s Support Activities (June)
- Mental Health Awareness Day (July)
- Childhood Hunger Awareness Day (October)
In 2018, we intend to continue engaging the community through service and programs. Our chapter members are committed to life-long membership and dedicated to impacting the lives of others through teaching, learning, and discovering while continuing the legacy started by our founders.
